Seton Hall Prep is New Jersey’s oldest Catholic college preparatory school. The Prep's tradition is matched by its commitment to the education of young men by teaching them to think critically, communicate effectively and become contributing members of society.
At Seton Hall Prep, students participate in many of the amazing offerings available to them outside of the classroom. This includes 15 sports, more than 70 activities and clubs, a variety of intramurals and a seemingly endless number of service projects.
“To equip the holy ones for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the extent of the full stature of Christ.”
Seton Hall Prep students volunteered for the fourth consecutive year to serve as judges at the Our Lady of Sorrows STEM Fair, themed "Global Challenges, Local Solutions." SHP students involved were: Dominic Reynolds '25, Rohan Pai '25, Julian Colon '25, Luke Chua '25, Franco Callejas '25, Owen Cederqvist '26, John Cooper '26, Nathaniel Caicedo '26, Bryce Ramos '26, Roman Daniels '26, Joseph Ulloa '26, Logan Smith '27, Connor Sabia '28, and Aiden Charles '28.
Students in 6th and 7th grade worked on projects that they designed in groups. The challenges that the projects were designed to focus on are based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Groups select an SDG goal and focus on a country or city where this issue is prevalent. The students then use the engineering design process to develop a plan or invent a product that can help build a better future for those in need. The product they develop must use appropriate technology for the area and fit into certain real world design criteria and constraints. Working towards these goals shows our young people that we can all work together to build a better world. Some of the issues highlighted in the Sustainable Development Goals include: Climate change, Hunger and food needs, Access to energy and light, Disaster-resilient housing, Infrastructure and transportation, Access to clean water, and Health issues.
This program gives students the opportunity to apply their learning to real world situations and to develop skills that will serve them well in various life situations. Students will be empowered by seeing how we can all be part of the solution.
