Seton Hall Prep is New Jersey’s oldest Catholic college preparatory school. The Prep's tradition is matched by its commitment to the education of young men by teaching them to think critically, communicate effectively and become contributing members of society.
At Seton Hall Prep, students participate in many of the amazing offerings available to them outside of the classroom. This includes 15 sports, more than 70 activities and clubs, a variety of intramurals and a seemingly endless number of service projects.
“To equip the holy ones for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the extent of the full stature of Christ.”
Coach Bob Farrell Honored With Wootten Lifetime Achievement Award
The legendary former Seton Hall Prep basketball coach, Bob Farrell, is being presented the prestigious Morgan Wootten Lifetime Achievement Award, an honor bestowed on a select group of scholastic hoops coaches around the nation, at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass., this weekend in conjunction with the Spalding Hoopball Classic.
The Wootten Award is named after Coach Morgan Wootten, the only coach enshrined into the Hall of Fame that exclusively coached at the high school level. This award honors high school coaches that have dedicated their life to the game and have had a tremendous influence on their players and community.
Coach Bob Farrell, who amassed 777 wins, two NJSIAA Tournament of Champions titles, and 12 Parochial A state crowns during his 34-year tenure with the Pirates, is just the second New Jersey high school coach to receive this award, joining former St. Anthony head coach Bob Hurley.
“I had the pleasure of being a part of his career during my tenure as The Prep's Certified Athletic Trainer, and seeing the intensity, accountability, and class that he ran his program with was inspiring," commented commented Athletic Director, Larry Baggitt H’18. "I am thrilled that the Naismith Hall of Fame is recognizing him for this prestigious award.”
