Honoring Faculty Retirees & 25 Years of Service

Seton Hall Prep honored seven retirees and four current faculty members for achieving the milestone of 25 Years of Service to The Prep at the Celebration of Excellence last Friday.  Retiring following the 2023-2024 academic year are Mr. Albert Calcagno, Mr. Don Coleman, Mrs. Judy Gunn, Dr. Jim Incardona, Mrs. Marian Mulvihill, Mrs. Sharon Rondinella, and Fr. Jim White. Faculty members who reached the milestone of 25 Years of Service are Dr. Mark Connolly, Mr. John Henrikson, Mr. Billy Ward, and Mr. Michael T. Zinsmeister.

Retirees
  • Mr. Al Calcagno (1975 - 2024): Al served SHP as a Physical Education, Health, and Drivers Ed teacher for his entire tenure at The Prep. Al also spent time on our football staff as well, prior to accepting a coaching position at Cedar Grove HS. Many of New Jersey's finest drivers spent their six hours of behind the wheel training with Coach Cal!
  • Mr. Don Coleman (1994 - 2024): Donny joined The Prep in 1994 as a member of our maintenance department. After 30 years he is set to retire at the end of this school year. Donny was a dependable worker and friendly and loyal presence to all that knew him. 
  • Mrs. Judy Gunn (1997 - 2024): Judy departs SHP as the longest tenured employee in the Advancement Office. She served many years processing gifts and managing the database. Judy is a great supporter of The Prep and is one of many key players each year who helps with the Annual Golf Classic.
  • Dr. Jim Incardona (2003 - 2024): Dr. Jim Incardona most recently served as Dean of Academics and has always taught in the Theology department. Jim also spent time as Theology department Chairman, and Middle States internal coordinator. For teaching excellence, he would receive the Kelly Award in 2012 . For his innovation, vision, and persistence in managing the onset Covid-19 pandemic he received the Fusco Award in 2024.
  • Mrs. Marian Mulvihill (1989-2024): Marian retires from SHP as a Caprio Award winner at the culmination of this school year. Her consistent and quality support for the Dean of Faculty helps our entire academic operation run smoothly. Whether managing Summer Enrichment, organizing AP testing , managing daily faculty absences, or tending to countless other daily tasks, her work has been indispensable.
  • Mrs. Sharon Rondinella (2002-2024): Sharon breathed life into Campus Ministry from the moment she stepped on campus. She founded the Kairos retreat program which is credited across the board for improving our student's love and respect for The Prep and their peers. Our students are involved in the community and in touch with their spirituality due to Sharon's phenomenal work.
  • Fr. Jim White (2010-2024): Fr. White could always be depended on to deliver a powerful homily at one of our many annual Masses throughout the years. He preached with passion and creativity and was a caring presence in the lives of our students . He served us as a loyal Chaplain and theology teacher throughout his time at The Prep!
25 Years of Service to The Prep
  • Dr. Mark Connolly: Dr. Mark Connolly joined The Prep in 1999 as a biology teacher and has taught at all levels. He recently received his Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Management, and Policy. He also assists in overseeing our Teacher Certification process by providing observations throughout the year. 
  • Mr. John Henrikson: John currently serves as our Science Department Chairman and has taught AP Biology and AP Environmental Science for many years. He has also become the resident expert on all matters relating to SAT and ACT preparation and has been quite effective in preparing our students during his early morning classes. Mr. Henrikson was the recipient of the Kelly Award for teaching excellence in 2007 and the Fusco Award for technological innovation in 2018. 
  • Mr. Billy Ward: Billy arrived at The Prep in September of 1999 as a Freshman Theology teacher and assistant football coach. He joined our Guidance (now School Counseling) department in 2002 where he served until 2012. He has been instrumental in establishing the Kairos retreat program, a hallmark of student experiences at SHP. 
  • Mr. Michael Zinsmeister: Michael joined The Prep as a Latin teacher and quickly became involved in campus life by moderating the Quiz Bowl team, coaching tennis, and emceeing many school functions. He assumed the role of Director of Admission & Financial Aid in 2015. In this position he has helped ensure The Prep's enrollment remains strong and markets our school positively to the outside world. He earned the Caprio Award for commitment to the school in 2007 and the Fusco Award for technological innovation in 2021.
